SEATTLE – Attorney General Nick Brown today joined a multistate coalition in filing a lawsuit challenging an unlawful final rule promulgated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) that would create significant barriers to obtaining health care coverage under the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

SEATTLE – Washington Attorney General Nick Brown today, along with attorneys general from 19 states, secured a preliminary injunction halting Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.’s attempt to dismantle the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), ensuring continued access to critical public health and social service programs. On May 5, Washington co-led the coalition states in suing to stop the Trump administration’s sweeping and unlawful directive, which left HHS unable to carry out many of its most vital functions. Today, Judge Melissa R. Dubose of the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island blocked the administration's mass layoffs at several key HHS agencies while the case proceeds.
SEATTLE – Washington Attorney General Nick Brown today joined a multistate coalition in filing a lawsuit challenging the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) decision to provide unrestricted access to individual personal health data to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which houses Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).   
SEATTLE — A coalition of 16 state attorneys general, led by Washington, filed a lawsuit late Monday against the U.S. Department of Education for illegally cutting congressionally approved funding for mental health programs in K-12 schools. 
SEATTLE — A federal judge Monday overturned Trump administration directives that defunded National Institutes of Health grants supporting vital biomedical research in America. The judge said the move was “arbitrary and capricious” and called out “a darker aspect” to the cases – that they are a clear attempt at “racial discrimination and discrimination against America’s LBGTQ community.”
SEATTLE — Attorney General Nick Brown today joined 18 attorneys general in filing a lawsuit against Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and other Trump administration officials to stop the dismantling of HHS. 
OLYMPIA — Attorney General Nick Brown co-led today a multistate lawsuit filed against the Trump Administration for its unlawful attempt to disrupt grant funding issued by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). It is the second lawsuit filed by state attorneys general against NIH for cancelled funding.
OLYMPIA — Attorney General Nick Brown today joined a coalition of 24 states in filing a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., for abruptly and illegally terminating $11 billion in critical public health grants to the states. 
OLYMPIA — Attorney General Bob Ferguson announced today that due to his Medicaid Fraud Control Division’s investigation, Lincare Inc. paid Washington state $1.15 million. This will reimburse the state’s Medicaid program for Lincare’s fraudulent overbilling of leased oxygen equipment.
